How many solutions does the following system of equations have? 2y=5x+4 y=3x+2 a. infinite many b.2 c.1 d.0

OpenStudy (phi):

you have the equations of two lines. if the equations have different slopes, the lines will meet somewhere (once), and where they meet is the solution. if the lines have the same slope either they will not meet (they are parallel) or they are the same equation and meet "everywhere" i.e. lie on top of each other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its c

OpenStudy (phi):

to answer this question, put the first equation into "standard form" (by dividing both sides by 2) and compare slopes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o ok thank you phi

OpenStudy (phi):

first equation has slope 5/2 second has slope 3 definitely not parallel, so they will meet exactly once

thsmk you for thr medal
