we can see if it is directly above,below,right,or to the left assume n is positive if you have (a,b) and you want the point n units directly above then the point is (a,b+n). if you have (a,b) and you want the point n units directly below then the point is (a,b-n). if you have (a,b) and you want the point n units directly to the right then the point is (a+n,b). if you have (a,b) and you want the point n units directly to the left then the point is (a-n,b) no sometimes it isn't directly to the right,to the left, or up or down sometimes you have to use \[d=\sqrt{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2}\] and check that d is actually 10 in your case where (x1,y1)=(-3,-5)
