Which word in the sentence is the predicate adjective? The tiny plant grew tall in the warmth of the new greenhouse. A. warmth B. tiny C. tall D. new
An adjective describes something, so which of those do you think describes a noun?
a predicate adjective is an adjective found in the predicate that describes the subject. do you have any ideas ?
Yes? But still a little confused
About the whole predicate thing?
But im guessing the answer is C. and yeah @JameyFoxx
Its not C, nor is it A
So it is Tiny, B.
That's what i would go with, or its D. I could only narrow this one down. Sorry
Its Ok. Thanks @JameyFoxx @texaschic101
I would go with C
But tall isn't describing anything directly, or is it?
it describes the subject -- tall plant....it is in the predicate and it follows a linking verb which a predicate adjective is supposed to
But it is a little confusing....could tall be an adverb modifying the verb " grew " answering the question HOW it grew ??
ok got it
yeah it is confusing
" in the warmth " and " of the new greenhouse " are prep phrases...you do not even need them. So the sentence is basically : The plant grew tall.......I am still gonna go with C but not 100% sure
