A line segment is drawn from (2, 7) to (5, 7) on a coordinate grid.
Which answer explains one way that the length of this line segment can be determined?
A.
Subtract 5 – 2.
B.
Subtract 7 – 2.
C.
Add 5 + 2.
D.
Add 7 + 2.
OpenStudy (anonymous):

finding a length of a line segment on a graph is pretty easy as long as it is vertical or horizontal all you have to do is just count each line
OpenStudy (anonymous):
there are a total of 7 lines in the line segment understand?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so is the answer 15 or ...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no it is 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):
u can expalin it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so when u look at the x axis
OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
1 and 8 look and see
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the two dots are the starting and ending points
OpenStudy (anonymous):
k
OpenStudy (anonymous):
u see where i got 1 and 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
i see
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so then you would just do 8 -1 and find that the length is 7 thats the easiest way
OpenStudy (anonymous):
got it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you wouldnt do 1 - 8 though cause then that would make a negative number
OpenStudy (anonymous):
right

ok next question :P
OpenStudy (anonymous):
A line segment is drawn from (4, 1) to (4, 5) on a coordinate grid.
Which answer explains one way that the length of this line segment can be determined?
A.
Subtract 5 – 1
B.
Subtract 5 – 4
C.
Add 5 + 1
D.
Add 5 + 4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so what do u think it is
OpenStudy (anonymous):
umm .D U
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Its not D because i dont think you would ever add to find the length of a line segment

OpenStudy (anonymous):
ohh c i dont know lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
not c i get it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
C is also adding lol ok you would need to subtract to find the length so that would leave you with A or B
OpenStudy (anonymous):
umm b
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And it would be A because the x values are the same so you would subtract the y values which would be 5 - 1 which is 4 and thats your length:)
