8. Read these lines from Alfred, Lord Tennyson's "The Lady of Shalott" "Willows whiten, aspens quiver, Little breezes dusk and shiver, Through the wave that runs forever, By the island in the river, Flowing down to Camelot" Toward whose home is the river flowing? -Beowulf -Grendel -The wife of Bath -King Arthur 9. Read these lines from Robert Browning's "My last Duchess" "A heart - how shall I say?- too soon made glad, Too easily impressed; she liked whate'er, She looked on, and her looks went everywhere" How is the poems speaker describing it's subject? -as loving and fearful -as flirtatious and naive -as beloved and flawless -as beautiful and cunning 10. Read these final likes from Elizabeth Barrett Brownings "sonnet 43" "I love thee with a love I seemed to lose, With my lost saints- I love thee with the breath Smiled, tears, of all my life! -and, if god choose, I shall but love thee better after death" With which of these does browning conclude her poem? -a prayer that her love will live eternally -grief over the religious faith she has lost -anxiety that her saints have abandoned her -a plea that her loved one will always love her in return 11. Which excerpt from Matthew Arnold's "Dover beach" most obviously symbolizes the impermanence of life? -where the sea meet the moon-blanched land, listen! -the sea is calm tonight, the ride is full, the moon lies fair -for the world, which seems to lie before us like a land of dreams.

I'm not sure about 8. but I'd guess it's King Arthur because of the reference to Camelot. 9. The poem's speaker is describing the girl as flirtatious and naïve since she's easily impressed and she looks at everyone which is kind of flirtatious. 10. I believe that browning is concluding her poem with a prayer that her love with live eternally. She ends the poem by saying "I shall but love thee better after death" which sounds like she wants her love to continue, even after she dies. 11. I think describing the world as a land of dreams shows the impermanence of life, since the land of dreams disappears once you wake up.
