2. To identify the kinds of archetypal characters, think about: what the character does what others say about the character what is the key to understanding the character what the character says to other characters 3. Which is true about symbols? Symbols mean different things to different people. Symbols can come from many different cultures. Symbols are the same in many people's dreams. Symbols can only stand for one thing each. 4. How do universal themes help readers and writers? They are popular among readers and writers. They provide familiar place to begin analyzing the story or engaging the audience. They are easy for writers to create and for readers to analyze. They provide the keys to our past and to other cultures.
What class is this for?
this is for english 3
2. i would say a. through a character's actions we see what their goals are what kind of person they are... example could be like, a guy volunteers in his community often so he must feel charitable... you get the idea 3. between A and B, i lean more towards A. the color red for example, someone might see it as a symbol of love while i might see it as a symbol of anger 4. not so sure about this one... but i would guess C. a universal theme could just be the good guy beating the evil guy; people understand it
I think also for 2. could be A. cause i found this in my class. The last part of the universal (or the collective unconscious) is theme. Theme is more complex than character and symbol, so you will need to dig a bit deeper into what you know about life to identify and analyze the theme in literature.
also for 4. idk maybe can be right... universal theme. These are themes that many people can relate to for a number of reasons, whether it's because they incorporate common life experiences or are simply concepts of human nature that most readers can understand. Universal themes allow readers to connect to the story emotionally. Some of the more common universal themes found in literature include individual struggle towards a personal goal, a person's struggle with humanity, falling in love, life cycles, karma, coping with tragedy, adolescence and discovering the world around us. These are universally understood by a majority of readers due to how easily they can be applied to their own lives.
it could be B then...like for C theyre easy to analyze but for the reason that people can analyze them easily is because they identify with them and are able to point them out... sorry i cant provide a more solid answer
