My physics grade is a 88 and I have two zeros that haven't been entered. Together they equal 40 points. How much would that bring my grade down?

Out of a total of 15 * 20 = 300 points...how many do you have so far?

It's not all out of 20. Some assessments are out of 10 or out of 15. I could list them all if needed

Oh, well if you really want to be specific then sure

However...all you need to do is

Take your total points from the possible points....so out of 320 or whatever it would be from the 17 assesments....take your points earned and divide that by the 320

Then since it is weighted by 50% or half your grade...multiply your decimal by 50..this will be the total points out of 50 that you could possibly get from your assesment grade

Then just add that to whatever other grades you have from other assignments (tests, quizzes etc...) and work with those weights and add all the points you have together

But regardless....2 zeros can mean the difference between a C and a B in most cases

Potentially yes...think of it like this

you take 3 assessments...out of a total of maybe 60 points...but you only earn 20

that is 20/60 = 0.33 which gives you 16.67 out of a possible 50 points

That means you miss out on 33.33 points...and your grade in this case would be a 33 instead of a 66....so in just a 3 assessment case...you could have dropped from a middle of the road D to a serious low F .....so it CAN be bad...but in your case you have 15 assessments...so it may or may not be as drastic

Ahh, this means your teacher has his own way of weighing grades....it would be impossible to tell your grade, only he can tell you

See, if he has (quizzes....weighed at 10% of total grade) that would be easy to calculate...however he has a weighing out of a total 97% of QUIZ grades..

what your teacher is doing...is taking the totals in each category...and THEN weighing them based on what he thinks the weight should be...so only he can calculate your grade!
