Please Help medallz. Dr. Oguz counted the number of cubs in 10 tiger cub litters and then arranged the numbers from smallest to largest. The numbers of cubs in each litter were 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The mean of these measurements is 3. What is the mean absolute deviation? A. 1.2 B. 1.5 C. 2 D. 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me see what i can do.. hmm

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

Okay Thank,you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry give me a minute i did it wrong.. O_O

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

Okay Its fine.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i believe its D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you think it is?

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

I am not sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

go with D.

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

You can try and tag people to check it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathmate @mathslover can you guys check this for me

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

Can you help me.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@ajanijones Do you know how to calculate mean absolute deviation (MSD)?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

* MAD

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Here's a useful link: http://www.mathsisfun.com/data/mean-deviation.html If you do the calculations, you will be able to do them by yourself in your next test.

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

No I dont.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

steps: 1. Find the mean of the dataset 2. Find the absolute difference from the mean (i.e. always positive) 3. Add the differences and divide by the number of values in the dataset. This is the mean absolute difference.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Read through the link, and follow the instructions I gave earlier. Find the value of the MAD and then compare with the available choices.

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

Nvm I got the anwser it is 1.5
