Will fan and Medal If someone could help me with this geometry question that would be great :) A surveyor is “shooting a line” to a point on a tree 55 m from his current position. After rotating his surveying instrument 25° to the left, he “shoots” another line to a point on a fence post 25 m away. a.) Determine the distance between the point on the tree to the point on the fence post. (Show the appropriate formula, substitutions, and work. Give the distance to the nearest hundredth of a meter.) b.) Use the Law of Sines to find the measure of T. (Show the appropriate formula, substitutions, and work.

What do you think the answer is? And are those all the answer choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait, nvm

I used the Pythagorean theorem to solve for a, and got 60.4 but these aren't answer choices, a and b are different questions I have to solve

never hurts to draw a diagram for any geometry and trigonometry problems. Check if this is what you drew: |dw:1433349346921:dw|

OpenStudy (mathmate):

T = tree F = fence S = surveyor. Hints: (a) Note that when your are given two sides of a triangle, and the included angle (formed by the two sides), you can use the cosine rule to find the third side. (b) Once you have found the third side (ST), you can use the sine rule to find angle T (assumed to be tree, not specified in the question).
