I need someone to explain slopes to me. I have a couple math questions that involve slopes and I do not understand them at all or how to even go about starting to figure them out.

Sure whats your question I love slopes

To calculate the slope of a line you need only two points from that line, (x1, y1) and (x2, y2). The equation used to calculate the slope from two points is: On a graph, this can be represented as: There are three steps in calculating the slope of a straight line when you are not given its equation. Step One: Identify two points on the line. Step Two: Select one to be (x1, y1) and the other to be (x2, y2). Step Three: Use the slope equation to calculate slope. So from that information can you give two points from the line given on your graph?

The points wold be the marking where the dots meet up

Now wehave our points -2,2(x1,y1) and -2,4 (x2,y2) Do you understand where im getting this from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! I understand. The picture really helped.

Yay good okay next step making the slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So we are ready to calculate the slope using the equation for a slope: our points are -2,2 and -2,4 so... first 2 - 4 = ? and -2-2= ?

2/-4

Hope that helped :3
