Four polynomial functions are shown below: f(x) = x3 + 3x2 - 4x - 12 g(x) = x2 - x - 2 p(x) = x3 + 3x + 2 t(x) = x2 + x - 2 Which of the following functions has -1 and 2 as its zeros? f(x) g(x) p(x) t(x)

Hi!
test ONE BY ONE to figure out the correct one.
test?? you mean solve each one?
For example: f(x) put -1 in, you have \(f(-1) = (-1)^3 +3(-1)^2-4(-1) -12 =-6\) hence -1 is NOT a root of f(x) , therefore, f(x) is NOT the correct solution. do the same with other options.
ah!! i see! i don't know how to do the other ones the only one i knew how was the first on! could you maybe guide me in steps to do this next one?
I guided you all, now your turn to show your brain.
well my issue is i know how to do equations with 4 number in them but i don't know what to do with ones that have 3
you can cancel out p(x) as all the terms are adding so a positive number like 2 will give a positive value in p(x) and it can never be 0 for positive values
try the her 3 polynomials
other not her lol
okay! what would be the first step in solving a trinomial?
Why do you need solving them?
to this kind of problem, just plug the GIVEN solutions in. Dat sit
what are you seriouse??
what do you mean? I got mad because you complicate the problem while you have a very simple way to get the answer.
When students struggle with a simple problem, the potential they give up is so high. I don't want it. That is why I always give out the simplest way to solve the problems (if there is some and I know it)
okay! sorry i mad you mad. I always over complicate these things!
