Find the value of the expression 3m2 + 2p2 − 15 when m = 3 and p = 10. can someone plsss help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What r u trying to figure out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait nvm, lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, so we know that m=3 and p=10. All we have to do is change the problem a little and then solve it! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when m=3 and p=10 the problem would be this: 3x3x2+2x10x2-15.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so all i would have to do is multiply those numbers then add & subtract, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right! PEMDAS. Do the multiplication first, then the adding, and last the subtracting.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you get the answer let me know what it is, please. I just want to make sure you didn't make any mistakes. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i got 43.. but the answer is not one of the choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, that is the wrong answer. Now I am going to break it down for the problem to be easier Do 3x3x2, then do 2x10x2. Let me know your answer with those two and then we can keep going.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x3x2= 18 & 2x10x2= 40 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Before we go on can you pls post the multiple choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the choices are 27 200 212 & 225

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you positive these are the multiple choice answers for this particular problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes im positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OHHHH! It's with exponents, and it took that away when you copied and pasted it! Ok here is what the problem really and truly should be like: 3x3^2+2x10^2-15. So first are exponents. Figure out what 3^2 is, and what 10^2 is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3^2 would be 9 & 10^2 would be 100 .. right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right! :) Now what you do is 3x9, and 2x100.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.. 3x9 is 27 & 2x100 is 200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great! Now what is 27+200-15?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

212, omg i feel so stupid it was simple.. thank you so much for helping me though! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any time, and don't feel stupid sometimes we just need that little help to remember! Also, sorry for the confusing and how long it took. Good luck!! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its okay, you still managed to help me :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) Are you good with history because I am stuck on a question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not really good in history, but post your question anyway maybe i can help! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok
