PLZZZ HELP Which equations show the identity property of multiplication? Choose exactly TWO ANSWERS that are correct. A. -1/4 • (–4) = 1 B. –3 • 1 = –3 C. 4.2 = 1 • 4.2 D. 0 • (–8) = 0

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What is the multiplicative identity? It's a number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Okay, which demonstrates multiplication by 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so B and C?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Done. Move on to the next one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay Will you still help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Using the commutative property of multiplication, which number completes the statement correctly? (3 • 4.6) • (–5) = (4.6 • ) • (–5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tkhunny ?????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Projects ??

OpenStudy (projects):

What's your choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just have to put in a numbur... (3 • 4.6) • (–5) = (4.6 • ___ ) • (–5)

OpenStudy (projects):

Ahh, okay so no choices? Well let's see.. 3 times 4.6 equals?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

ab = ba

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it equals 13.8

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

What is 4.6 times 3?

OpenStudy (projects):

Okay so now (13.8) times (-5) equals?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-187.561446164

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

No need to go that far @projects :) The question asks for the commutative property not the associative property

OpenStudy (projects):

Whoops, miss read it.. thanks for pointing it out for me @skullpatrol c:

OpenStudy (projects):

Well now @fryfry2003 so what do you predict the number is going to be for the blank space?

OpenStudy (projects):

|dw:1433434867004:dw| As @skullpatrol said, ab = ba

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Good work, that is correct :-)

OpenStudy (projects):

Dingdingding! Lol, remember you want both sides to equal.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

3 is the only number that will make that equation a true statement That is, both sides will have the same value.

OpenStudy (projects):

^^^^

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

New students should learn that the equals sign is used to show That the two expressions on either side have the same value. 4 + 2 = 6 is true because 6 = 6 is a true statement.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Any questions? @fryfry2003

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NOPE
