jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
you will use the slope formula
\[\Large m = \frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}\]
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
line 1 has the two points (0,3) and (1,5)
line 2 has the two points (-1,1) and (-2,-1)

i need the slope

i only can put 2 numbers no comma

@peachpi
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
you subtract the y values
then subtract the x values
finally, divide the differences (y over x)

for line 1
ydifference: 5-3 = 2
xdifference: 1-0 = 1
divide the differences (y/x) to get 2/1 = 2
so the slope of line 1 is m = 2. Does that make sense?
