Help me with this?
can u start by multiplying left and right hand side by 3? what will u get?
9
and I don't know who to do the other :/
Relax and let's work on it together okay? \[a = \frac{ x + y + z }{ 3 }\] multiplying left and right hand side by 3 - what will u get?
Okay thanks, 3a+ x+y+z?
Almost...it should be: 3a = x + y + z u mixed up the "=" and "+" sign but its okay!
Oh /.\ sorry! What do I do next?
subtract 3a from the left and right, now what u get?
Um x+y+z-3a?
correct on the right hand side of the = sign....but how about the left hand side?
-3a=x+y+z-3a?
The right hand side was 3a before...now subtracting 3a from that, what will u get?
0!
Good job :) so we have 0 = x + y + z - 3a Now plz look at the choices in ur Q, what do u see?
not to butt in but your job is to solve for \(y\) not to set it equal to zero it takes two steps only
so y is by itself on one side right? that means u need to move everything else on the other side...
@satellite73 yes, sorry I realize...too late...that I should have kept 3a on the left....
What do I do then?
take a step back... 3a = x + y + z now because as @satellite73 said, we need to solve for y. So we need to move x and z over to the left hand side. ok?
Okay
We do that by subtracting x + y from the left and right hand side of the = sign what will be on the left?
3a- x+y= z?
Yes and I made a mistake again :(
So it should look like this.... 3a - (x+z) = x + y + z - (x+z) so far so good?
I think I figured it out, is it this? y = 3a - x - z
Bingo :) u got it!
THANKS! YAY!
welcome!
