Can some one explain me Centripetal Force

OpenStudy (insa):

The Centripetal force is the force which keeps the body move along the axis of rotation and this force is acting always towards the center.

Hi @yadu123 , Suppose you take a stone and tie it with a thread at one end. Now holding the other end you start rotating the stone in a circular fashion. In this situation the stone is held by the thread/string and the string always tries the stone to pull it towards your hand. this force is technically called as the centripetal force. Now you may ask that is a physical contact always needed for centripetal force to act?? The answer is NO ! Another example is the case in which earth revolves around the sun. Here also the gravitational force between sun and earth acts as the centripetal force.
