So you are solving for x. Meaning you need to isolate the x-variable. What is your understanding of this Q so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok start by distributing again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ Must use the distributive property first. (To get rid of those complex parenthesis!)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to use the distributive property on both sides of the equation first. -2(2x+5) and -3(x-1)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

yes! If we apply the distributive property of multiplication over addition at both sides, we get: -4x -10 -3 = -3x +3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure I can correctly distribute this question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now what do we do?
