What is the amplitude, period, and phase shift of f(x) = -4 sin(2x + π) - 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

someone please help i really dont know where to begin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really?? @TheSmartOne you just leave me hangin like that?!

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

$$ f(x)=A\sin(\cfrac{2\pi}{T}x+\phi)+b $$ A is the amplitude T is the period \(\phi\) is the phase shift b is the y-intercept Match up each parameter with your function.

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

Note in this case b is the y-intercept, but if the phase was different, this would not be the case. "b" just represents an upward or downward shift of f(x) after you compute the sine part.
