What happens when a cell's proteins do not detect a mutation? A. the mutation remains with the cell and is passed on in division B. the protein is substituted with a mutation C. the mutation leaves the cell before cell division D. the mutation becomes part of the protein

D, if it's undetected, than the cell can't fix it and it'll have stay there forever. Mutation happens in gene, and even though proteins are made from those genes, it can't be "substituted with it". The buildings of the proteins and genetics are different completely. It's like gene is a recipe for cake, and the protein is the cake itself (you can't replace the cake in a somehow fix the recipe). :)
