A number cube is rolled 160 times. The number 2 comes up 39 times. What is the experimental probability of rolling a 2? What is the theoretical probability of rolling a 2? A. 39/160; 1/80 B. 1/6; 39/160 C. 39/160; 1/6 D. 121/160; 1/6

When the die is rolled, "2" comes up 39 times this is out of 160 times so the experimental probability is __________ (fill in the blank)
39 out of 160?
I'm confused. what about the theoretical probability.
experimental probability is just the results of the experiment: you rolled 160 times, and got 2 39 times. theoretical probability is what you would expect if you rolled "enough" times with a perfectly fair die. you have 6 sides, all of which should be equally probable, so the theoretical probability would be...
1/6?
so the answer is C?

yes the theoretical probability is where you assume each side has an equal chance of being landed on there are 6 sides and only one side is labeled '2' so P(rolling a 2) = 1/6 is the theoretical probability
the theoretical probability is something you come up with without actually doing the experiment. You just make a theory the experimental probability is you actually out in the field doing the experiment and collecting data ideally the experimental probability would be close to the theoretical probability given enough trials. if not, then perhaps the theoretical probability would have to be adjusted
Thank you so much I get it now
