hi @zepdrix
Hey :) When you think of association, think of groups. You associate with different groups of people, yes? We group numbers using parenthesis. So our associative property is about grouping numbers in different ways with parenthesis.
Any ideas which option looks correct? :o
i think it is d? but i might be wrong
Option D looks very close to the correct answer. Option D is showing commutativity. Think of commuting to work, you drive from one place to another, ya? Commutativity tells us that numbers can trade places and the operation still holds true. Example: 5+7 = 7+5 We're looking for something more like this: (2 + 3) + 5 = 2 + (3 + 5) See how I changed the grouping?
yes i do but am i correct? @zepdrix
?
No, you are not correct. In option D they switched the 3 and 7, commutative property is being applied. Look at the example I gave, one of the options looks very very similar.
is it c? @zepdrix
Yayyy good job \c:/ The 8 and 7 are grouped on the left side, then we see the -8 and 8 grouped on the other side. Same result, but different groupings. So the associative property is being applied.
thank u i got 100% u are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @zepdrix
