Subtract and simplify:(3x^2 + 2x - 5) - (4x^2 + 5 - 1) A. x^2 - 3x + 4 B. -x^2 + 7x - 6 C. 7x^2 + 7x - 6 D. -x^2 - 3x - 4 My answer: D so can someone show me how I got it because my teacher wouldn't show me how to get the answer.
well, this is the easiest of all Maths @Takirap2000. aLL YOU NEED TO DO IS TO SUBTRACT TERMS WITH THE SAME POWERS. For example, 3x^2 4x^2 gave you -x^2, I think you can do the rest. But if D is your answer, I am soo sure that you wanted to write 5x in your second equation. Check it.
but my teacher didn't show me how to get this she just give me the answer and I don't know how to do this.
yes, I am saying subtract terms that have the same powers, 3x^2 - 4x^2 because their power is 2, and 2x-5x because their power is 1 or x is to the power 1, and then the constants 5 -(-1)
I don't understand I need to see it in equation or draw. the word I don't understand sorry:(
In second expression 5 should be replaced by. 5x. Then solve it you will get the correct answer.
what is 3x^2 -4x^2?
On subtracting (3x^2-4x^2)+(2x-5x)+{-5-(-1)} =-x^2-3x-4
In second expression 5 should be replaced by. 5x. Then solve it you will get the correct answer.
sorry my computer had to reset and shut me down
