discount tickets to a basketball tournament sale for $4 each. Rico spent $60 on discount tickets $37.50 less than if he had bought the tickets at the regular price. What was the regular ticket price?

OpenStudy (kash_thesmartguy):

$6.5 each.

OpenStudy (kash_thesmartguy):

Can I get a medal?

You gotta explain it dude, not just the answer. We're promoting competitive problem solvers not just hungry-for-answers (Thus, leading to laziness) people.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, and personally, I like knowing why not just because so would you please explain clearly and then I can reward you with a metal? 😃

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is part of my ACT practice so I need to know how to solve the math problems

OpenStudy (aripotta):

So he spent $60 total, at $4 each. How many did he buy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

According to my calculations, he bought 15. (15*4 is 60)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm a bit doubtful when it comes to math.)

OpenStudy (aripotta):

15 is correct. Says he saved $37.50. Which means he would have paid $97.50 (37.50 + 60) So to get your answer, divide 97.5 by 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Omg thank you!!! I always got to the part where I add them and get the original price without discount, but I didn't know what to do next 😵 ahh thank you thank you thank you!

OpenStudy (aripotta):

No problemo~
