Which situation describes a time when it would be all right to round the numbers? A. Taylor's pattern calls for a piece of material that is 10.4 yards long and another that is 3.25 yards long. She thinks of rounding the lengths to the nearest yard She would cut the pieces 10 yd and 3 yd B Angelo wants to buy a sandwich for $5.75 and another sandwich for $5.50 The cashier thinks of rounding both numbers to the nearest dollar She would charge $6 for each sandwich C Mia's dessert recipe calls for 2.75 pounds of cherries and 4.5 pounds of apples She thinks of rounding the weights

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what are your thoughts on this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A i think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think its a.... if they get 10 yd of it, and they need 10.4 yd, they wont have enough.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

"Taylor's pattern calls for a piece of material that is 10.4 yards long" " She would cut the pieces 10 yd" so she loses that 0.4 of a piece

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh i see now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok hang on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would think so. B is what i would choose personally.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

B doesn't sound fair in my opinion. The cashier is basically raising the prices.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But in 6, there changing the recipe kind of.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does C look ok if not then what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nun of them? thats not a option

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

maybe if she rounds the weights up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if she rounds the weights up, its changing the recipe. Like... If a recipe calls for "1.23 ounces of sugar" if you add to much, or to less it might not turn out right....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Grams* Sorry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nun of them are right? is that what you guys are saying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ok thanks for helping

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its B, They think it is C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Aidan wants to buy a jacket that costs $75.29 and a shirt that costs $19.25. He wants to be sure he has enough money. He thinks of rounding the prices to the nearest dollar. could this be it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Thesn1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iSpiffy2wice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi! Okay, well he needs to have enough money, so he cant round down because he wont have enough!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you thought it was B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, i did think it was B on the first question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i might have to go with C im not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its okay! You should always make sure you are sure of your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@misty1212

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):
