Jake and Mike took some tests. Jake took x tests and scored 85 points in each test. The expression below shows Mike's total score: 85x - 15 What does the constant term of the expression represent?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Constant terms are terms, or numbers, that don't have variables with them. For instance, 2x would NOT be considered a constant, because "x" (the variable) is with the two. However, if it was only 2, then that would be a constant term. Remember, however, that the sign (like the operation symbol) needs to be included, except for some cases. e.g. 2x - 15y + 3 The constant term is 3, however, since it has the addition sign, making it a positive integer, you can simply write "3." Another example: 2x - 15y - 3 The constant term is -3 because the subtraction sign is in front of the 3, making it a negative integer.

Do you know now what might be the constant term in the expression that you gave?
