I need some help. Select the choice that translates the following verbal phrase correctly to algebra: the product of 12 and y increased by 11 A: 12(y + 11) B: 12y + 11 C: 12+ 11y D: 12(11y)

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

well, technically I think there are two answers that could technically work but if we're reading from left to right: product of 12 and y means 12y, and "increased by 11" means add 11 AFTER multiplying 12 times y

OpenStudy (misty1212):

yeah i would go with \[12y+11\]

OpenStudy (misty1212):

but that is just a guess math is not the same as inglish inglish is ambiguous sometimes

OpenStudy (plasmataco):

same. It says the product of 12 and y. and then it says increased by 11.
