Electrons are negative charges. Current is the change in charge per unit time So current is a rate of change during a finite interval of time.
Mathematcially, current, I is $$ I = \cfrac{dq}{dt} $$ where q is charge (Coulombs) and t is time . Units of current are in Amperes
Note that 1 Coulomb is a horrendously large unit of charge equal to \(6.2415 (10)^{18}\) electrons A change of 1 Coulomb of charge in 1 second is equal to 1 Ampere A typical household circuit can only handle about 12 Amperes of current before the circuit breaker trips. So just 12 Coulombs of charge in 1 second is enough to trip the breaker.
