Tina bought a coat that costs $70.00. The sales tax in her state is 6% What is the final amount that tina has to pay for the coat?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

final price = item cost + (sales tax/100)*item cost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got when 6/100 I got 0.06

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what is the item cost then @Vocaloid ?if I got 0.06 and the coat costs 70.00?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

item cost is 70.00

OpenStudy (anonymous):

even with the sales tax? how would it be 70.00 with 6% of sales tax?

OpenStudy (lynfran):

the coat would cost $74.20

@LynFran You are supposed to help people learn, not give direct answers

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

ahh, sorry. what I meant was, to plug in "70.00" for "item cost" in my equation final price = item cost + (sales tax/100)*item cost, meaning final price = 70 + (6/100)*70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ok so with ng in the sales tax it would be 74.20 right ?

OpenStudy (lynfran):

ok so 6/100*70=? then the answer you get add it to the cost to get the new price ok

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

yea, that looks right to me, good job

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok that seems right thank you both
