How does the cell wall protect a plant cell? The cell wall is thick and fibrous and provides a barrier between the cell and its external environment. The cell wall does not protect the cell because the cell membrane does. The cell wall is thin and flexible, which allows the cell to be moved without harming the organelles. The cell wall is on the inside of the cell and serves to contain the contents of the cell.
@dtaylor417 help babe
i don't know if this helps but here u go babe!!!!! Cell membranes surround every cell you will study. Cell walls made of cellulose are only found around plant cells and a few other organisms. Cellulose is a specialized sugar that is classified as a structural carbohydrate and not used for energy. If a plant cell is like a water balloon, the cell wall is like a cardboard box that protects the balloon. The balloon is protected from the outside world by a structure that provides protection and support.
@dtaylor417 thanks
haha np anytime
cell wall is the outermost layer that is present in a cell, yes it does protect it from the external environmentt because it is tough, uusually flexible but sometimes rigid. it gives a cell support (helps in maintaining the shape too) and acts as a filter.. also when a cell is in a hypertonic environment , it prevents over expansion of the cell
