Help, Q: Dad yelled, "Get over here and give me a hand with this!" A.Simile B.Hyperbole C.Metonymy D.Synecdoche

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

This might be a bit tough to explain, but I'll try my best "give me a hand" is an expression that also means "give me help". In a loose/metaphorical sense, the word "hand" is associated with the act of helping simile and hyperbole are not the answer; similie is a comparison using the words "like" or "as" and hyperbole is an exaggeration between synecdoche and metonymy, I would say that the better fit is metonymy, since synecdoche is more of a part-as-a-substitue-for-a-whole

this might help a bit more http://www.buzzle.com/articles/metonymy-vs-synecdoche.html
