What does the story of Orestes have to do with The Odyssey? Odysseus's journey is akin to Orestes own trials. Telemachus is in a similar situation to Orestes. Orestes mother was as loyal as Penelope. Orestes decision is shown as an example of what not to do.
@dtaylor417 help please?
idk if this helps but here u go!!!! They are both part of the epic cycle called 'The Returns' - the stories of the people returning from the Trojan War. The Odyssey is the story of Odysseus's return. Orestes relates to the return of Agamemnon. Since Odysseus was lost for ten years, by the time the events of the Odyssey take place, what happens to Agamemmnon and Orestes (which I won't get into) has already happened, so they are mentioned in the story line as an example to Telemachus.
umm the 2nd one i believe
thanks
