\[x/3 - 1 = 1 - 3\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I don't really know how to start
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Do I add one on both sides? but then does it matter to which one I add one?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay that was dumb i guess it doesn't matter so then i have x/3 = 2 -3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
The simplest here is deal with right hand side first: 1-3 = -2

ah yes i didn't think about that
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay so x/2 - 1 = -2 and then i add one on both sides so x/2 = -1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
and then how do i fix that fraction :?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Following that we deal with the left hand side:
x/3 -1 , bring the -1 across to get : x/3 = -2 + 1 or x/3 = -1
and then simply cross multiply x/3 = -1 gives x= 3(-1) or x=-3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
um its x/2 :?

x/2 = -1 gives x= 2(-1) or x=-2 okay i replaced the number and so the answer is -2 hmm trying to understand that x = 2(-1)
