Good, but speed is measured with two quantities, hence the formula distance/ time, so I assume they want it in miles/ minutes, so just divide it now.

Total distance, as you have assessed, is 40 miles. The total time is 20 min + 10 min = 30 min. So that can be said to be 40 miles per 30 minutes. But we probably want to state speed in terms of miles per hour. If you can go 40 miles in half an hour how many miles would you go in a whole hour?
