Can I use "Ayyyy Lmao" in a essay?
You would rather not use any slang or text language like such as ikr (even not abbreviated ikr) in an essay.
Use clear, professional English. (and in most cases, unless a nrrative, it is going to be a 4rd person)
Darn, well it looks like I need to stick to actually writing my essay instead of just abruptly ending it with "Ayyy Lmao"
Yeah, don't.... you cn use that if you want to get a bad grade:)
But, you don't want a bad grade, do you:o
No I just wanna get the darned thing done! :( lol It's taken me a few days.
In public speaking, a similar behavior would be appreciated as "charisma", and that would (even, at times) be a good way to emphasize an extent of something. ... Essay is a written language, so use clear professional language, and try to put in good vocabulary words and transitions,.
Speaking of an essay, would this be a good "description" hook?
Martin Luther King once wrote “Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial prejudice will soon pass away and the deep fog of misunderstanding will be lifted from our fear-drenched communities”.
I, as a person to whom English is a 3rd language, had some struggle with essays, but practice got me going. (The hardest thing I have ever done is a 15p. research about Rudyard Kipling, in high-school, which I prevailed in a week.)
Wait, why are you bringing up this quote?
Sorry I was asking if it was a good hook to start off my essay. I have to choose one of the different types of hooks, such as Anecdotes, definitions and descriptions... lol
it all depends on the purpose of the essay....
Also, isn't that a little too long, I wiuld perhaps paraphrase the quote.
I can give you the writing prompt. What stylistic elements does King use to influence his readers? After reading and analyzing "Letter from Birmingham Jail," write an essay in which you answer the question and analyze structure and language in his text, providing three or more examples to illustrate and clarify your analysis. What conclusion can you draw about the power of this text? So I used a quote from his actual letter to describe what people will be reading about in my essay and for the body paragraphs and such I will have my supporting details.
@SolomonZelman Sorry
your supposrting details are the quotes, and your analysis is your interpretation of the quotes. (It is a fairly hard assignment.) ` + ` ( Luckly you don't (yet) have to do such assignments in class. ) ` + ` I have read the letter a long while ago... but, I will try. What is your thesis?
I'm behind in English so I'm taking online classes on FLVS Martin Luther King Jr. uses metaphors in his letter, figurative language and a peaceful tone to convince all those that read his letter that racial equality is something that should be as all men are equal.
I think, that this should suffice.
So what is exactly your question....
Honestly, I'm not sure. I just need some guidance for doing this assignment. I'm following an outline to write it. I just wanted to know if I was on the right track for a good grade because I dont want to really rush this essay.
yah, you are doing great for the beginning.
There are examples throughout the essay of that he wants to peacefully negotiate the racial confict (the racial equality)....
For example, he explicitly states so in the very beginning... (i don't remember the exact text)
It's cool, thanks for the help and reading my hook, I'll paraphrase it. If I need help on the body paragraphs I'll reply here. If I could give two medals I would.
(he also draws analogies some times and it does involve a significant use of figuratiev language as far as I remember,,,, ) yw
