count the number of choices for each of the three positions on the license plate for the first letter, we have 26 possibilities, since there are 26 different letters for the 2 numbers that go after, we have 10*10 possibilities, since there are 10 different digits then, for the three letters at the end, we have 26*26*26 possibilities, using the same reasoning as before multiply all that together to find the number of possibilities
