In other words, the rest of the world (every country other than the US) uses a different system of measuring just about anything due to scientific and arguably practical reasons. Google is your friend. If you want to find out the scientific unit of measure / what every other country in the world uses to measure things, just google: "*whatever* unit of measure"

For example, in the US you use the outdated Fahrenheit system. If you were to tell someone from France that the weather outside was 100 degrees they'd surely be confused about it at first if they didn't know about the Fahrenheit system because 100 degrees Celsius is the boiling point of water, and that's pretty hardcore.

So in short - pints, gallons, quarts, stones, pounds, miles, inches and so forth are not scientifically correct units of measurement.
