Here is a fun question that I would normally ask in a Astronomy forum; but since one doesn't exist on Open Study this is the closest forum to ask it.... How does gravity affect time?

Excellent source Kelly! So we can say that gravity curves space-time. Thus, the greater the gravitational field, the greater the curvature. So the distance between two places changes because of the gravitational curve. An example might be getting between two points on opposite sides of the earth. If you could go directly between the two points (by going straight through the Earth's core) it would be a shorter distance and take "less time" than traveling along the curved surface. Would another way of looking at be the greater the gravity the more time it takes because time is slowed down by the force of gravity?

Great Answer Kenzie! To me the fun part of learning is not necessarily knowing the right answer; but thinking about all the possibilities and their implications! It one of the reasons I love astronomy and physics because the more I learn, the more I realize I still don't know! Thus, the more I want to learn and the cycle goes on and on! :-)
