i called 2 boys qwerty and lenny and gave them 2 chits. i told them that i wrote 2 consecutive numbers on their chits and those numbers lie anywhere in this set - [1,100].i told them to guess each others number.then the following conversation took place.- qwerty :- lenny, i dont know your number lenny :- i don't your number too. qwerty :-now i know your number. now u have to tell what numbers did qwerty and lenny get.(there are more than 1 answers)

I have no idea how (2, 3) or (99, 98) are answers. Am I missing something? I think I've heard this sorta riddle before but I don't remember it. My guess is that if one of them had 1 or 100 then one of them would know the other person's number. So any pair of consecutive numbers between (2,3) and (98,99) make sense to me as possibilities.

If qwerty has 2, then lenny must be having either 1 or 3 It is clear to qwerty that lenny is not having 1 when lenny said he doesn't know the other number. So qwerty concludes that lenny must be having 3.. .

Ahhh ok I understand your first two answers now, but what about (3,4) and (98,97) ?

exact same reasoning : If qwerty has 3, then lenny must be having either 2 or 4 Lenny knows that qwety is not having 1 or 100 because qwerty first revealed that he doesn't know the number. So if Lenny has 2, lenny would have known that the other number is 3 at this point.
