I don't know what this has to deal with math but it does.....
You are looking at a map of the United States, and it is assumed that you already know which direction is north.

A. Common Notion
B. Theorem
C. Proof
D. Conjecture
* I looked at the definitions of all four and the only one I could come up with was D * I just wanted a second opinion....

"common notions" are described by Euclid in the Elements such as "Two things that are equal to the same thing are equal to each other"

it is a common notion

in other words, if you made a map, you could orient it any way you like. But notice almost every map you use has north on the top. In other words, it is "agreed convention"
that we assume everybody uses.

I guess they like the term "common notion"
but "assumed convention" seems clearer (to me)
