-5 +w/3 = -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12 -12 2 -2

rishavraj (rishavraj):

w/3 = -1 + 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cross multiply to get : -5+w = 3(-1) -5+w = -3 bringing the 5 across we get: w = -3 +5 w = 2

rishavraj (rishavraj):

huh........ question is \[-5 + \frac{ w }{ 3 } = -1\] so \[\frac{ w }{ 3 } = -1 + 5\] \[\frac{ w }{ 3 } = 4\] \[w = 4 \times 3\]

rishavraj (rishavraj):

w = 12 got it??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@rishavraj , the confusion lay in where the division sign was.. i.e. (-5+w)/3 or -5 + (w/3)
