I figured out that catalysts increase the rate of a reaction by decreasing the amount of energy needed to get a reaction started. However it then asks "what controls the type of reaction that the enzymes can help speed up?"

An alteration of enzymes productivity would be:usually at extreme temperature (out of it's optimum range), as well as changes in pH, chemical presence (toxins) amount of substrate or concentration. of enzymes in a solution. Also,note that these enzymes could help to speed up a reaction in a cell/chemical reaction by lowering the activation energy needed, to produce a reaction each enzyme act with only one substance/substrate like a lock and key.
