What does perpendicular mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In elementary geometry, the property of being perpendicular (perpendicularity) is the relationship between two lines which meet at a right angle (90 degrees). The property extends to other related geometric objects. A line is said to be perpendicular to another line if the two lines intersect at a right angle.

Ok thank you :)

Np :)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So, a line and its perpendicular line will always create four 90º angles. (it should like like an X or like a +, if you have a line and its perpendicular line drawn)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Now, as far as equations are concerned. For any line: y=mx+b , the prependicular line is going to be y=\(\displaystyle\small \rm \frac{-1}{m}\)x

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

THis perpendicular line can be shifted any number of units up or down.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Why? because|dw:1436457991582:dw|and perpendicularity doesn't change
