The volumes of the two solids are equal, and the cross sections shown are taken at the same height above the bases. Find the missing length of the cross section of the rectangular pyramid. Round your answer to the nearest hundredth. A. 1.59 m B. 1.62 m C. 1.67 m D. 1.76 https://media.education2020.com/evresources/2004-06-01-06-00_files/i0350000.jpg
Which one do you believe it is?

idk. im finding the area of the cross sectioned triangle and then deviding the side of the square to find the other length. I'm obviously doing something wrong or not adding a step that i should because i can not find the right answer.
i know
@welshfella
would i have to find the volume of the cross section and up of the two pyramids and compare the volumes to find the answer?
it isnt B
I'm puzzled by this one...
I think its 1.67 but not sure how to prove it.
if the areas of the 2 cross sections are equal then the answer is 1.67 because the area of the triangle = 0.5*3*4 = 6 and 6 / 3.6 = 1.67
the volumes are the same and the cross sections are the same height above the base so can we say that the areas of cross sections are the same???
the heights are the same as well as the volumes so i think that makes the areas of cross section at a given height the same
