Choose the equation below whose axis of symmetry is x = 2. y=x^2+4x+2 y=x^2-4 y=x^2-2 y=x^2-4x+2

Elsa213 (elsa213):

What do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its c but I don't know

Elsa213 (elsa213):

I also think it is c. :o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the axis of symmetry is x=-b/2a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if you plug in numbers into that formula which one do you think it is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b? @GretaKnows

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope. the -4 is not b its c. so the axis of symmetry would be 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o that makes sense thanks @GretaKnows

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so try d. y=x^2-4x+2 -(-4)/2*1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

--4 is +4 and 2*1 is 2. 4/2 is 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you think d is the answer? @GretaKnows

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep :)
