If you add up the two totals that it gives you, it will give you the fraction of immigrants from Canada and Europe and Latin America. What is left is how many came from Asia. So, \[\frac{ 3 }{ 20 }+\frac{ 8 }{ 20 }=\frac{ 11 }{ 20 }\] To find the fraction of how many Asians came to the US, you would subtract the total of the Canada, Europe, and LA immigrants from the total fraction which is 20/20. \[\frac{ 20 }{ 20 }-\frac{ 11 }{ 20 }=\frac{ 9 }{ 20 }\] The final answer is 9/20 of the immigrants coming into the US were from Asia.
