Can someone help me out with this quick problem. I know that f(x) is 1/2 - actually i'm not even sure so I don't even know where to begin on this one. Here is the image: http://i.imgur.com/MZ0agRD.png

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I feel like it would be either the first or the second option because of the 1

OpenStudy (triciaal):

the domain is the set of x values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So -3 and 1?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

open circle does not include the end point closed circle/ shaded includes the end point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the x values (domain) would include: -3, -1, 1 etc.?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

domain all the values of x that will produce a y value

OpenStudy (triciaal):

yes

OpenStudy (triciaal):

open does not include

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm really confused now. Because the circle is open, do I disregard that -3 then?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

-3 will be the end point open does not include therefore the x is greater than -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So because its open, X always will be greater and not greater than or equal to?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay! Alright thank you and have a good night (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the circle on -3 was closed would that mean that X would equal less than -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or less than or equal to

OpenStudy (triciaal):

by the same principle you would include 1 because shaded

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So less than or equal to? Right?
