Sammy is trying to determine how many triangles she can create out of a square grid that has a side of 14 inches. Use the image below to determine the area of the triangle and how many she can cut out. The area of the triangle is 49 in2, so she can create only 2 triangles. The area of the triangle is 49 in2, so she can create only 4 triangles. The area of the triangle is 98 in2, so she can create only 2 triangles. ??Why empty

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Area of a square: 14•14 Area of your triangle: (7•7)÷2 (Area of square) ÷ (Area of triangle) = ? Although from the picture it shouldn't be hard to tell....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks Solomon but why do you think empty reported me?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

oh i am wrong

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

The area of the triangle is (7•7)÷2•2, actually.... because it has two 7 by 7 triangles, which makes it just 7•7

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So, let me re-write this in a correct fashion (:) Area of a square: 14•14 Area of your triangle: (7•7) (Area of square) ÷ (Area of triangle) = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4? @SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (sparrow2):

yes

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yes, 4 triangles
