How many zeros does the function f(x) = 7x13 − 12x9 + 16x5 − 23x + 42 have?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

isn't the number of zeros equal to the degree of the polynomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea i am completly lost

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the degree of the polynomial = the highest exponent example :- x^5 - the 5 is the exponent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so my choices are 4,5,9,13 so im assuming its 5

OpenStudy (welshfella):

- the HIGHEST exponent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oooooooo

OpenStudy (welshfella):

- i was only giving you an example of an exponent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (welshfella):
