Jason purchased a pack of game cards that was on sale for 13% off. The sales tax in his county is 8%. Let y represent the original price of the cards. Write an expression that can be used to determine the final cost of the cards. y − 0.13y 1.08(0.87y) 0.08(0.87y) y − 0.87y + 0.08y

I think the last option because it makes more since
y-original price then we have to take of 13% from it then we have to add the tax 8%...
**off
so it should be: y-0.13y+0.08y
but it is not included in one of your choices so I'm not sure about this one
Im goin to just try d
no. I think I understand it. Apply the sale first then the tax. So take off 13% from 100% , which will be 87% so the price is (0.87y) and then let's add the tax, which is the 8% of the price after the 13% off., so tax is 0.08(0.87y) In total you'll get: price + tax = 0.87 + 0.08(0.87y) or (1+0.08)(0.87y) therefore you're total cost is 1.08(0.87y)
