so I put it in y=mx+b form

for the first equation
2x+y=-8
y=-2x-8

for the second equation
I need y to be just y... no digits next to it so I divided the whole thing by 2
4x+2y=-16
2y=-4x-16
so dividing the whole equation by 2
y = -2x-8

ok then change the equations into y=mx+b form and graph letting x be any number you choose and solve for y
so take y=-2x-8 for example
if I let x = 1
then y = -2(1)-8=-1-8=-10
so the point is (1,-10)
